Taiwan's Shanti Stupa

The Shanti Stupa in Taiwan is situated in 南投縣、埔裏鎮.
An opening ceremony was held on an auspicious Sunday morning, the 22nd of June 2008. The ceremony was attended by both the Mayor of the province and the county 鎮長 and thousands of people from all parts of Taiwan, Hong Kong, China, Singapore and Canada. This includes 22 delegates from China, being the organizer and working committee of this wonderful project. I am very fortunate to have been able to attend the event as Singapore representative.

After the speeches by various dignitaries and almost immediately after the ribbon cutting, a roar could be heard from the crowd and all of us rushed out from the tent to witness an auspicious phenomenon unfolding in the sky above us 吉祥緣起:

This picture was taken from a digital camera which was pointing directly to the sky. Notice the red beam in the first photo, according to the photographer, this is actually issue forth from the tip of the Stupa. I have also seen a similar image taken from someone's else mobile camera.

The cloud formation was also very interesting. A pair of dragon and phoenix was formed and appeared like a back drop to the Stupa. The celestial beings must be very pleased.
